I sit alone and watch the world

I sit alone and watch the world.
I see lovers walk hand in hand,
and enemies fight.
I feel the hatred between races,
yet I feel the love between friends.
I sit unobserved
by those I watch,
an unknown shadow.
I wish that someone
would take notice of me.
That they would see me
for who I am,
not merely what I appear to be.
The lovers fight,
the fighters love.
How the world gets turned around!
My chest is ripped open,
a hole where my heart was,
but no one notices.
The pain is still there,
but is numbing into nothingness.
I hear the crows call,
their hoarse voices oddly soothing.
